Disability, not today!

Disability, not today!

If you think disability confines you to your bed or chair or home, think again! This lady here – and I feel very honored to say – is touring the whole world, on her wheelchair. You heard it right!

Parvinder Chawla, a contributor on HolidayIQ.com is a living example to people who think that physical atrocities limits their abilities and brings their life to a dead end. After being affected by rheumatoid arthritis that left her body’s lower half completely immobile, she would have chosen to live a life that faith decided for her. Instead, she lived to become an example. For what would have made others think their life has nothing left to live for other than darkness, she found the light. The depression of being limited to a bed was the only motivation that made her step out of it. And, the journey that started from there on continues till today.

Being an avid traveler, she has covered almost all of India and if you are a fast thinker, many questions would be popping up in your mind after hearing “all”. Well, that’s right. Her travel was not only limited to places with easy accessibility. She has been to areas visiting which is a challenge even for the rest of us. Vaishno devi and Kedarnath – the two most sacred Hindu religious spots in India is something that she has already covered a long back. Hands down to her confidence!

“From boarding a flight to checking into a hotel, your disability continues to make things difficult for you. But it is your way of life now and you can’t do nothing about it” says Parvinder. There are many destinations that aren’t disabled-friendly. However, things are improving and the Government has been making serious efforts to enhance accessibility of the physically challenged for tourist places.

There is nothing in the world that could hold you back and Parvinder’s life is one good example of that. Disability is just like a second silhouette that follows her everywhere affecting her in the least.
